The story of Michelin company starts in the XIX century, when the brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin founded the company in a small town in France, Clermont-Ferrand.
Today, the company is present in 170 countries, it has over 123.000 employees and it operates 71 production facilities that in 2020 produced approximately 170 million tyres. Over the years, Michelin developed beyond tyres.
The company produces today the famous Red Guide, where Michelin stars are awarded to the best restaturants, but also a series of cartographic products: the Green Guide, maps and road atlases for the entire world.
An important part in the Michelin history is the Michelin Man, Bibendum, which in 2018 celebrated 120 years of existence. In 2000, 22 designers reunited in a competition organized by Financial Times voted Bibendum as the best logo ever created.
