Michelin Victoria Plant, a facility with a long tradition in tire manufacturing, was established in 1939 and acquired by Michelin in 2001. The plant is dedicated to producing tires ranging in size from 14 to 20 inches for passenger cars, light trucks, and SUVs.

In addition to its core mission of tire production, the plant also includes a semi-finished products workshop and a curing bladder workshop. These facilities support both local manufacturing operations and other Michelin plants across Europe and around the world.

Today, the Victoria Plant manufactures Kleber and BFGoodrich tires, which are exported to markets across Europe.

By the royal decree of July 1936, launched at the request of Princess Elizabeth, sister of King Charles II, the construction of a tire plant is started at Florești, a strategic unit for the development of the country and of the industry, in the Prahova oil-field area.

With the privatization in the 90s, the Victoria Plant becomes a member of Tofan Group, thus joining the other tire plants held by the group in Romania. Michelin purchases the Florești plant from Tofan Group. The plant joins TCAR and starts manufacturing tires for the American market.

Édouard Michelin visits the Victoria plant. He was the great-grandson of Édouard Michelin, one of the two Michelin brothers who co-founded the company. He joined the Michelin Group in 1985, which was then led by its father, François Michelin and was appointed Michelin Group CEO in 1999. Édouard Michelin passed away in 2006.

Victoria plant receives ISO 9001 certification which defines the way an organization works to meet the clients and interested parties' needs. The certification has been granted after a successful audit based on ISO 9001 standard and afterwards it provided the organization wider opportunities for development by expanding towards market segments that were inaccessible up to the point of the certification.

The Membrane Shop is opened at the Victoria plant, servicing our plant, as well as other plants in Europe. The membranes manufactured in the Victoria plant reach Japan, Thailand, China, and the USA.
The membrane is a rubber product of different shapes that can be inserted between the flanges of a machinery and inflated. It can serve different purposes: turning, replacing a metal drum, support between confection and vulcanization and after vulcanization.

Victoria plant produces TCAR tyre number 10.000.000 and the first tyre for original equipment.

The President of the Michelin Group, Jean Dominique Senard, visits Victoria Plant. Jean Domnique Senard was the CEO of Michelin Group between 2012 – 2019.

A special tire - XM1 - is manufactured in the Michelin Victoria plant - for the Asian Market, marking thus the first opening of the plant towards this market.

The first 18-inch tire is manufactured in the Michelin Victoria plant, under the brand BFGoodrich G Grip.

The first edition of the “Road Safety Days” is organized at Bucharest, Florești, and Zalău, as part of the company's direction on road safety education.

Victoria plant defines its new mission for 2016 - 2020 - Leader in meeting its client needs and a reference in its commitment taken towards consumers and the teams; Tier 2 specialist in Europe for the replacement market with focus in producing Kleber; focus also on large tonnage tyres, 4x4, SUV.

A new logistic warehouse is inaugurated at the plant.

The shop for automatic palletizing is inaugurated. The sorting of tyres based on size and their on pallets for stocking is done with the help of robots.

MAC/BU project is implemented in the mixing activity. Through this project, a significant part of manual production has been replaced by automatic activity. Hence, the operator does not touch chemical products and the hygiene and ergonomic conditions have been improved.
MAC/BU is the production of BU (Boite Unique) bags containing chemical products that are used in the production of mixes in the MAT shop. This shop provides BU bags to other plants as well.

Michelin, together with other three companies in Prahova and with the help of the Technological Highschool Câmpina launches a dedicated class to teaching student in the dual educational system, specialty Low Voltage Electricity. The second class is launched in the school year 2020 - 2021.

Victoria Plant joined the Group efforts in protecting its employees and produced masks for a period of 2 months. In just a few weeks, the necessary analysis has been performed, a new shop was completely reorganized to host the new activity, persons to work in the shop have been identified and trained. Thus, the necessary quantity of masks has been produced, mainly for Victoria Plant employees but also for the employees at the Bucharest Headquarters.

The project involved the refurbishment and installation of the Metallic Fischer machine in the VCT facility, as well as modifications to the calender coil room. These changes were made to increase production capacity for steel-belted diagonal tires, improve productivity, reduce manufacturing costs, minimize material losses, and enhance workplace ergonomics.

As part of this project, a dedicated area was set up for mold cleaning using a laser cleaning system purchased from CleanLaser, Germany.

As part of this project, a dedicated area was set up to produce the dry ice required for cleaning molds in the VCT facility. Dry ice cleaning is carried out both on the presses and in the mold room. This is the only authorized cleaning method because dry ice blasting leaves no residual dust or abrasive particles.

This dry ice production system has enabled production optimization by aligning output with consumption needs and reducing excessive storage requirements.

A new blood donation campaign was organized at our factory in October 2022. One hundred employees responded to the call, and together we succeeded in collecting 32 liters of blood, helping to save 240 lives.

In 2022, the Victoria plant began a collaboration with the National University of Arts Bucharest, Department of Mural Art. The first project resulting from this partnership was the redesign of the plant’s perimeter fence.

The students incorporated Michelin’s colors and visual identity to give the plant’s exterior fence a new look, which was highly appreciated by both employees and visitors.

In January 2023, the plant’s second cafeteria was opened to reduce waiting times and provide employees with a more pleasant environment for their meal breaks.

Also in 2023, the first cafeteria was renovated and upgraded to the same standards as the new one.

In 2024, the first two 48-inch HF electric presses were certified and entered regular production. These state-of-the-art machines are equipped with electric heating, nitrogen membrane technology, and Siemens automation systems.

The project was completed 10 weeks ahead of schedule, with the first certification announced in September 2024.

Currently, a complete production line of 10 electric presses is installed at VCT, and a second line is being prepared.

In 2024, the automated system for transporting green tires from the tire building workshop to the curing workshop was completed.

In 2024, the Michelin Victoria plant celebrated 85 years of activity with an event dedicated to its employees, their families, and retirees. The occasion was marked by heartfelt reunions, a joyful atmosphere, activities for all ages, and the celebration of a history that has been built together over the years.

In November 2024, the Victoria Plant welcomed a visit from Inter Cars Romania, one of the leading customers of the tires manufactured at our facility. This visit gave Inter Cars representatives the opportunity to discover the performance and expertise behind the production of Kleber and BF Goodrich tires.

ÎIn November 2025, 30 volunteers from Michelin Victoria came together to plant the factory’s orchard, consisting of 30 fruit trees.

Designed to meet market demands, the new summer range, KLEBER Dynaxer HP5 and BFGoodrich Advantage 2, features a new design and significantly improved performance in wet braking, rolling resistance, and fuel efficiency.

In response to market requirements, Michelin Victoria launched the production of two new summer tire models in 2025: KLEBER Dynaxer HP5 and BFGoodrich Advantage.

Planted to mark the first anniversary of Michelin’s arrival in Romania, this spruce tree continues to grow alongside the Victoria plant. After 25 years, it remains a symbol of continuity, resilience, and the shared history that generations of employees continue to build together.
